5' Victorian Mahogany Pedestal Desk

A fine quality and particularly well proportioned Victorian mahogany pedestal desk. The top has an inset leather scriber with gilt tooling, a thumbnail mould to the edge, and is raised on two pedestals with graduating drawers and brass drop ring handles, on plinth bases. The locks are stamped ‘T. Turner & Son’. The top lifts off the pedestals for ease of transport.
Width 60" (152cm) Depth 31" (79cm) Height 30" (76cm)
Condition and Details of Restoration
This item is in original structural condition and is completely sound. The polish has been re-finished, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. The leather inset scriber is a good quality replacement, and has been ‘distressed’, i.e. some marks have been deliberately added to give the appearance of age. The handles are later replacements, but there is no ‘handle problem’, i.e. unsightly marks left by previous handles. One lock has been replaced.
