2nd Boer War commemorative plate 1900.
A commemorative plate made by William Lowe, a pottery from Stoke on Trent which was started in 1874.
It commemorates the actions in the 2nd Boer War when British and Empire forces fought in South Africa against the forces of President Kruger. The British were led by Lord Robert's and General Buller, and the plate has the immortal plea to arms "England Expects Every Man to do His Duty". A very apt message in these days of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The plate is dated 1900 even though the conflict lasted longer, this plate I suspect was issued to encourage men to join the forces.
The 2nd Boer War ran from 1899 through to 1902 and is the conflict in which Winston Churchill became a "Hero of the Empire".
The plate is in perfect condition, without any chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs.
The diameter is 9.5 inches or 24 centimeters. For international shipping, please contact us for a price.
We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases, so we offer a money back guarantee. Items must be returned within 14 days and in the same condition as sent. Please note that postage and shipping costs are non-refundable.
