Here we have a beautiful Pair of Small Victorian Stoneware Jugs. The jugs, which would probably have been intended for oil and vinegar on the dining table, are decorated in the classic Doulton mix of subtle browns and deep blues in a leaf shaped pattern with a band of cream beads and blue flowers around the body and the neck.

The jugs were hand decorated by Elizabeth Atkins for Doulton Lambeth and date to around the 1880s/90s. Elizabeth Atkins was one of the early principal artists in Doulton's renowned artist department. She worked at the Lambeth factory from 1876 to 1899.

Condition is good, with the exception of one small chip in the lip of one jug. Although perfectly suitable for use, they appear to have been kept as decorative items for the majority of their life. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each jug is 11.7cm / 4.6ins high and 7.7cm / 3ins in diameter. The pair together weigh in at 566.5g / 19.98oz.

Amongst other marks, each jug has the Doulton Lambeth stamp, an England stamp and the hand incised E A mark for Elizabeth Atkins.
