Fabulous quality late 19th.c. ottoman box stool or window seat c.1895. Lift the hinged seat pad to reveal a fitted interior in mahogany divided into 6 compartments. Probably originally intended for sheet music, it is deep enough to hold bottles of wine (would take approx 30 bottles!). Ebonised mahogany frame with carved detail and raised on short turned and reeded legs. Excellent condition, with the original brass hinges and stay and freshly upholstered in a trellis patterned blue silk damask.
