19th Century Spice Tower %%alt5%%
With the warmth of Christmas and the spices it contained is this Regency century spice container in the form of a 4 tiered tower. Each section screws into the other. It is turned from sycamore, the relatively hard wood allowing for fine turnings. This is an early example of this type of spice tower, and with its original surface and labels the condition is good. The scrolled labels are intact, with a small amount missing. There are 2 cracks, in the 2nd and 4th tier, one repaired and the other is stable. There is a small patch repair to the base. Circa 1830.
Height 20.2cm )8 inches)
