This is an eight inch mid 19th century Parian jug/pitcher, in the Lismore pattern (this design is a beautiful piece of Minton parian ware known as the Lismore jug). Crisply modelled and based on a classical shape with vertical fluting. A superb example of a larger sized jug ( this design came in various sizes)and in excellent condition no chips, cracks nor restoration. Registration diamond for 5th June 1852 (Minton and Co.). Height 20.02 cm (8 in).

The jug has a glazed inside and a plain parian body, the decorative appeal being the fine flutes and rings along with the shaping of the handle.

A similar jug with a band of gilt and Greek key enamel can be seen in the V&A collection on display in room 139 -the curtain foundation gallery of the Victoria and Albert museum South Kensington. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
