A 19th Century fruitwood lace maker's stool with iron stretchers, to accommodate the clogs worn by the workers. The stool stands on turned legs. The stool is in original condition, the thick seat is a beautiful rich colour with superb patina. The condition of the stool is very good considering its long life of practical use. It stands well with no wobbles. A good example of industry in the early 19th Century when English lace makers worked in the home. A charming and useful piece.
