19th Century French Mahogany Console Table
A 19th Century French Mahogany Console Table With Particularly Thick and Beautiful Marble Top.
This table is veneered in mahogany and has a nicely constructed drawer disguised in the frieze. It is of conventional form with two scrolling front supports and straight back supports and a concave shape to the platform stretcher. The piece stands on flattened feet. The table supports an extraordinary marble top which is much thicker than that usually encountered on antique tables of this sort. The marble is finely figured and contains black, white and silver-grey veins against a darker grey background. The marble has been beautifully carved and has a deep edge moulding.
