A superb 19th Century French giltwood salon sofa with beautifully shaped back. This high quality sofa is raised on elegant tapered and fluted legs, the giltwood frame is well carved with a cresting rail of floral and scroll carving. The frame is in good condition, being stable and sturdy. The tapestry fabric is in "country house" condition, worn but acceptable. The purchaser may wish to have this recovered and this is something that we can arrange if wished, for an additional cost. The frame has some wear and minor chips to the gilding, but the overall look is great and it is to be expected that an antique piece will have some signs of wear - this only adds to the character. A most attractive and stylish antique sofa that would add elegance to any home.
