19th C Hindley & Sons Chesterfield Sofa
A super quality 19th century English sofa by Hindley & Sons, having a shapely frame strong frame with a sprung seat and buttoned back. The whole raised on oversized Walnut legs with Mahogany inlay detail and original high quality gilt lacquered brass castors, stamped Hindley & Sons. English, Circa 1880. Perfectly presentable but would benefit from upholstery.

Charles Hindley & Sons (1820 – 1892) provided high quality and beautifully designed pieces, they were known for their Gothic Revival and Aesthetic designs which were highly fashionable at the time. The company received a Royal Warrant of Appointment and exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 to name a few. The firm was established at 31–32 Berners Street, London and later moved to Oxford Street when they took over the well acclaimed antique furniture makers Miles & Edwards in 1844. Their furniture is held in high regard due to its superior quality and is now highly collectible.
