This is a very good Italian tallboy chest of drawers. It is Venetian and dates to the 1930s. The tallboy is bombed with dramatic serpentine curves to the front and the sides. The chest is hand painted with gold swirls and fine floral bouquets in the Venetian manner. I particularly like the way the flowers trail across each drawer front. The drawers have brass dropper handles and the chest is raised on sturdy cabriole legs which are also painted.

The chest has a double cupboard at the top. The doors retains their original lock and key. The drawers are deep and run well.

The chest is in good condition. The ground behind the painted flowers and gold swags is antiqued to look faded and old. This was done when it was first new in the 1930s. Venetian chests of this period always are painted with this effect. Minor losses to paintwork. Fading to top of chest.

This is a beautiful period chest. It is useful and will hold a lot of clothes. It will look stunning in a room furnished in antiques. Stand out piece.

The tall boy is 58 inches high and 21.5 inches deep and 33 inches wide.
