Early 18th.c. oak coffer c.1720. Flat (rather than panelled) top with a simple moulded edge. Hinged to reveal storage inside plus a small separate compartment to the left hand side and a single shelf below. Particularly attractive grape and vine carved frieze to the top rail, over three raised and fielded panels with moulded surrounds. Moulded rails and mullions, continued on the sides and unusually proud raised side panels. Oak back panels and floor boards. Patch repair to the lid and old iron reinforcing to the left hand side. Obvious old wear, otherwise good condition with great rustic character and colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
