18th Century Welsh Painted Box Settle


A Rustic Late 18th Century Welsh Pine Settle With Original Paint.
This Settle which is of small size at only 34.5" wide retains its original crusty paint which started off as a red stain which can still be seen at the back and sides and then II would say late victorian period the front has been painted in a thick green paint which has now turned a grey black colour with a crusty surface,the arms are bare where the hands of time have gripped it to reveal the natural wood underneath.
The feet have sadly gone but it now has later sledge feet and a board at the back ,i would say this was done when it was painted in the victorian chapter of its life.
A well used settle that ouses country life a real gem.
