18th Century Italian Painted Console or Side Table With Wonderfully Patinated Original Finish.

This serpentine console or side table is original in all respects. Its fine shaped grey marble top, with moulded edge, is original and is a beautiful example. The table is painted and gilded which shows great character and patination and the silver gilt highlights have aged beautifully. The serpentine frieze has a classical mask and flowers motif in the centre also repeated on the sides of the table. There are anthemion motifs on the knees and there is a wide gilded border around the apron and highlighting each of the legs.

This table combines rococo and neoclassical influences and is very attractive.
