18th Century Italian Painted Commode
An Attractive 18th Century Italian Painted Commode.

This very attractive commode is of rectangular form with slightly overhanging top. It has three equally sized drawers and stands on tapering square sectioned legs. The whole piece is painted, sometimes in imitation of fine veneers, such as the ‘crossbanding’ on the top, on the pilasters and around the drawer fronts. There are the remains of the brightly coloured illustrations/motifs which can be seen on the top. The paintwork is original with some refreshments where necessary.
