18th Century Figured Walnut Bureau
Circa. 1725
A very good early 18th Century Figured Walnut Bureau, with well figured top and crossbanded edge above the slope front. The interior with a central door flanked by two columns containing secret compartments surrounded by an arrangement of 6 pigeon holes and 8 small drawers behind a gilt, tooled leather lined writing surface. The bureau section above four long graduated, cockbeaded drawers with brass drop handles with shaped backplates and lock escutcheons, with a crossgrain moulding below and raised on shaped bracket feet.
