18th Century Channel Islands Mahogany Wardrobe
1780Good 18th century George III mahogany Channel Islands "Take Down" wardrobe. This type of wardrobe was designed to be easily taken apart and "flat packed" and was made in the Channel Islands. The base section has four deep drawers all with their original locks and original gilded brass swan neck handles. The upper section has two long doors with double fielded panels with nice shape cornice above. The inside is fitted with removable slides / shelves so a hanging bar could be installed if required. The wardrobe stands on original ogee bracket feet.
The piece is in pretty good overall condition, and it is a nice colour. Possibly a couple of the ogee bracket feet have lost a wee bit off the bottoms but otherwise no damage.
SIZE 52" wide by 22 1/2" deep by 7 foot tall.
CIRCA 1770 - 1780
