17th Century carved oak coffer.
With an original country repair,the facing right hand side and base are from an elm six plank chest,
Obviously treasured as a good chest was donated to repair this one a long time ago.
From the West Country probably Exeter region.
The front with three carved panels depicting S Scrolls galore.
In good solid order two of the panels are split and one snipe hinge repaired.
Good colour showing traces of old paint with ingrained dirt and history.
