16th Century Antique Raeren Stoneware Krug, C.1580

A late 16th Century antique stoneware krug. The baluster shaped body decorated with three rosettes.
Made by the hand of Jan Emens Mennicken who was a master potter, from 1568-1594 in Raeren in the Duchy of Limburg (now Belgium). In 1594 he moved to Westerwald, a low mountainous area of Germany based on the Rhine.
Decorated in typical "tiger glaze".
Condition - Heavily restored to a museum standard repair. This krug still displays very well.
