Victorian Martinet Rosewood Card Viewer
This antique viewer looks to date from the late nineteenth centry. It was made by the French maker Martinet of 172 Rue de Rivoli and retains its maker's plaque on the inside. The viewer has a rosewood-veneered outer, with a single large lense. It has an adjustable holder. We believe it to be complete.
Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use.. There is some wear and scuffing to the woodwork as might be expected and a stain to the top. There is some wood loss to one bottom corner and some veneer cracking and loss. There are some signs of restoration - we believe the bottom panel of the middle section to be a replacement as well as the bar which holds the bottom support. The metalwork has some surface corrosion.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
28cm by 17.5, 8cm deep (closed). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
