Rare Antique Elliott Brothers Brass Thermopile
This is a fantastic and rare to find Antique Brass Thermopile, made by Elliott Bros. Following some research, we can only find one the same in the Science Museum.
A thermopile is a device that converts heat into electricity using the thermoelectric effect, leveraging temperature differences across different metals. It generates voltage through the direct conversion of temperature differences into electric voltage, a principle discovered by Thomas Seebeck.
Thermopiles are essential in various fields such as medical diagnostics, industrial temperature monitoring, and environmental sensing, due to their non-contact measurement capabilities.
It is in good condition with the adjustable height of the pole in working condition with it moving a little up and down but does exhibit some age-related wear, which includes some surface marks, mainly around the base area. To the base it is engraved Elliott Bros 449 Strand London and it is untested.
It measures approximately 31cm high at the current height setting but will go a little higher.
Please take a look at the photos to evaluate the condition for yourself, as they form part of the description and if you wish to ask us anything about the item, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Payment is accepted via bank transfer, debit/credit card (via SumUp secure payments - we will provide a payment link) or Paypal. Payment by cash on collection is also acceptable. Cheques are not accepted.
