Fine large mid 19th century Chinese gilt bronze standing Buddha Statue,c1850. This is a good quality example nicely cast, heavy for its size at 4kg with good detail. It has just the right amount of wear/rubbing to the gilt to give it good colour/patina. It bears Song dynasty marks ( 960-1279) but is most probably a later 19th century piece. It has two areas cast into the rear which are traditionally used to allow the insertion of devotional offerings. Overall condition is good in line with age and use. As mentioned there is rubbing to the gilt and each hand has a missing thumb. There is a hole in the lotus base which may well be a feature of the original casting .
