A fine quality Victorian oak and leather shotgun case. The case is made by the highly regarded maker of Stephen Grant of London. The case is embossed for the Hon. H.V.Duncombe. Hubert Valentine Duncombe was the son of the Earl of Feversham and the family home was Duncombe park hall, Helmsley near York. Born 1862 and died 1918 he was an MP from 1895-1900 and most interestingly was a decorated soldier being a Captain of the Imperial Yeomanry decorated for the Boer war campaign. The case is in good condition with a lovely colour to the leather and clean interior. It does lack it's straps and a key. C.1880.
