A charming antique cast and painted metal match strike by a famous German maker, the underside having a full mark for E.G. Zimmermann of Hanau, Germany.

The wonderful dog is dressed including a hat. The head lifts to reveal the match chamber within. The (non-safety) match would be struck on the red painted base and the match placed in one of two holders on the two front corners, enough light to get up the stairs to bed hence the name "Go-To-Bed".

Excellent antique condition measuring 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 4" tall. Dating to around 1890, late Victorian in era.
