Draftsman's Instrument Set + Contents 1875
1 of 6
A quality set of draftsman's drawing instruments in a three-tier brass bound, walnut and ebony veneered case. Complete top tier "full set" of nickel-silver instruments consisting of a main compass with extension bar and fittings, dividers, two bow compasses, three spring bows and ruling pens. Second tier fitted to hold watercolours and lower tier partitioned to hold rules and additional implements. Lined in blue velvet to top tier and inside lid. The set is presented here with its contents to include two full sets of copper letter stencils and ebonised parallel rule. Of interest is a table of colours suggesting that the original owner was an architect. The set is housed in a brass bound campaign-style walnut veneered case with ebony edge bandings. Brass presentation plaque to lid dated 1875. The case measures approximately 20 cm x 17 cm x 7.5 cm.
