Carl Deffner Copper & Brass Spirit Kettle c1910
We have for sale a very striking copper and brass spirit kettle by the very well esteemed German manufacturer Karl Deffner.
This very stylish planished copper and brass art nouveau spirit kettle is of an ovoid form extending to a lovely brass embellished spout and a superb brass art nouveau handle. The Kettle in turn sits on an attractive art nouveau tripod stand within which sits the original lidded planished copper and brass spirit burner.
The base carries the makers marks for Carl Deffner of Essungen near Stuttgart and judging by the style the spirit kettle and stand dates to somewhere around 1910-1920, during which the designs were strongley influenced by WMF
The spirit kettle and stand is 12.5 inches (31.7cm) high, 7.5 inches (19.1cm) wide and 5.75 inches (14.6cm) in diameter. It in a good antique condition but does carry some small indentations and the accumulation of polish one would expect in an antique piece of copperware of this period.
