Belle Epoque Enamel & Gem Set 18ct Gold Pendant
One-of-a-kind piece of eye-catching antique jewellery. I've never seen anything like it.
A French, Belle Epoque, 18ct. gold polychrome enamel and gem-set, multi-drop pendant. From a split ring bale - two transverse oval citrines in beaded, closed-back mounts, joined by pairs of belcher links. Then a butterfly-form drop enclosing 10 cloisons enamelled in white, each highlighted with a pair of green dots. The top of the butterfly is rub-over set with a round-cut ruby flanked by two emeralds and the centre is set with a matching third citrine from the bottom are three further pear-cut citrine drops (5x3mm), again in closed-back, beaded mounts. The mount, just below the bale has French control marks for 18ct gold (double-struck), together with a makers mark - probably 'E L'. Overall, height - 72mm and weight - 27mm.
Very good condition. I will always mention anything that materially affects the aesthetic or function of a piece, but will not attempt to describe what I consider to be normal for age and use. Please use the photographs as well as you can and I’m always happy to answer specific questions. The enamel in the small circular cloison above the central bottom teardrop has lost its surface.
I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking.
