An Arts and Crafts shop counter bell. Circa 1900.
A very unusual Arts and Crafts shop counter bell made from brass which has been copper plated. There are three bells, made from a tin like metal, which when the bell is moved give a lovely ringing tone.
In places the copper plating has worn through to the brass. This is shown on the handle and gives an indication of the extensive use of the bell.
The condition is good for a well used item. One of the finials has been expertly replaced at some time, and it is difficult to tell which one.
It stands 6.5 inches or 16.5 centimeters to the top of the handle.
It weighs an impressive 700 grams.
