An usual Arts & Crafts copper charger stamped to the reverse Art Union of London. This was founded in 1837 and subscribers could win works of art by lottery. Each member paying one guinea annually. Artist were not allowed to sign their work.
This charger is inscribed A Cameron 1892 which implies that this was presented to him. The work appears to be by the hand of John Pearson or by the Guild of Handicraft.
The Art Union folded in 1895 due to loss of subscribers.
An interesting piece of history as well as a stunning work art
Offered in excellent original condition with a diameter of 38cms.
