Art Deco Sculpture, Pierre Le Fagay, c1930
Delightful 1930s Art Deco French figure depicting 'Diana the huntress'. The base is solid highly polished marble. Signed FAYRAL. The statue alone measures 24.5cm in length, 23cm in height. The piece is in Excellent condition, the marble has some traces of life and time passing (rubbing edges with small tiny chips, no cracks or breakage). BIO Pierre Le Fagay
Born: 29 August 1892, Rezé, France
Died: 8 September 1962, Paris, France
He gained a medal of honour for his works in 1927. He used two pseudonyms as well as his own name which were Fayral on his metal sculptures and Pierre Laurel on his bronze pieces. He also studied with Max Le Verrier another well revered sculptor of this period and Marcel Bouraine . All three sculptors studied together at Beaux Arts in Geneva, Switzerland.
