This lovely cast metal chameleon is made of some type of heavy cast metal. We would estimate it to date from the early twentieth century, although it may be earlier. It does have some wear and damage. There are no maker's marks.

Condition: Overall in fair condition, with some wear and damage consistent with age. The chameleon would originally have had jewels or cut stones for eyes, but these are now missing. There is some misshaping and loss to the toes and to the spikes on his back. His tail is also a little misshapen and may be missing its very tip. The piece has some surface scratching, grubbiness and slight corrosion.
