Antique Bakhtiari Carpet handwoven tribal rug %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is an antique Bakhtiari carpet with much charm, dating from around 1890. The carpet has a very pleasing lattice design with polychrome hooked medallions with stylised flowers filling the very nicely abrashed indigo field and triple polychrome borders. The carpet does have some wear, the pile being fairly low in some areas, best seen in image 8. The colours are still vibrant and the ends and selvedges are good. It has a good antique look to it and would add colour and character to a room.
The carpet measures 343 cms by 169 cms.
