Antique 19th Century Papier Mache Cigar Case
Rare rectangular 19th Century cigar case circa 1860, made of papier mache with convex widths and gusseted depths. the front cover is a hand painted portrait of a woman of obvious means who has a cigar in her left hand.
The rear cover of the case is decorated in the same manner as most cigar cases of this era -- free-form gold leaf and lacquer design
Insider the cigar holder is a panel which I assume keeps the cigars from bending.
Overall in excellent condition with no cracks or tears to the case. Rare to find in such great condition with such an unusual portrait.
