A country piece, gorgeous but lacking the savoir faire of a town box. Country made for country people, possibly a farmer of reasonable standing but sadly, not for one of his workers.
It has fabulous colour and patina, one side was nearer the fire in the kitchen, it has been darkened moreso on the left side by the smoke.
