Finely knotted by armenian weavers in western turkey. Based on an early 16th century persian safavid hunting scene design. Main border with fighting animals on a royal blue ground. Has a nice yellow and a very pale light green. This example has low pile possibly silk or art silk throughout with wear. Nevertheless still looks stunning hung on a wall,last images as the previous owner did just like early flemish tapestries. To the rear is a calico flap to insert a pole through for hanging purposes.
