SIR WALTER SCOTT INTEREST - A William IV large Solid Silver Castle Top Table Snuff Box
By highly acclaimed 19th century silversmith Joseph Wilmore, and assayed in Birmingham 1834.
Of rectangular outline with gadrooned rims, the hinged cover with floral border enclosing a scene of Abbotsford House, Sir Walter Scott's home, within landscape. With a shell design thumb piece. Measures 9.3cm in length 6cm wide and 3cm in depth, and weighs 7.2 ounces.
In excellent overall condition, well defined hinged cover, beautiful gilt interior and undamaged silverwork. Vacant Cartouche, and hallmarks to the front cover.
This is an exceptional piece, and one for the serious collector.
