A handsome antique William IV open armchair or desk chair in mahogany dating from circa 1835 in a Gillows style design. The scrolled and moulded uprights surmounted by a foliate carved curved top rail over a carved horizontal splat. With scroll arms on carved supports the drop in seat newly reupholstered and standing on reeded turned tapering front legs and splayed back legs. Would make a wonderful desk chair.
Construction/Wood:
Mahogany
Condition Report:
Solid and sturdy. A little give to the arms. A chip to back of top rail. Old splits (solid) where arms meet uprights. Old mend to central splat (solid). Wear and marks commensurate with age. Newly reupholstered.
