Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English William IV mahogany cheval mirror, circa 1830, which is in excellent condition. Incorporating a banded mahogany frame, the three-quarter length rectangular mirror can be adjusted to suit your preferred viewing angle. The mirror has been replaced at some point in the past consequently, it is in excellent condition, with no signs of foxing (see photos). The back of the mirror retains its original backboard. The mirror is supported by the original decorative brass threaded wooden knobs, connecting the frame to bobbin turned columns, which are finished with turned mushroom shaped finials to the top. The column supports are also united near the top by a turned stretcher, and below, by a further two turned stretchers. The side supports are raised on fluted, splayed legs, terminating on the original brass lion paw toes and brass castors.

The cheval mirror boasts a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

The mirror is a good practical piece of antique furniture, it’s not too large and not too small, and therefore, it can be used in most locations. The mirror would look in any bedroom. The mirror would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
