Rare long handled adze,
From our 'vintage tools, display collection'
This fine hand forged adze dates to a time when such tools would have been used for ship building etc. The elm shaft displays a lovely polished patina.
The adze was famously used by Robert Thomson 'The Mouseman' for the scalloped carving within his marvelous pieces.
This one no longer has it's honed sharp finish, it was reputedly used by it's former owner for a garden implement but kept in splendid condition.
