Vintage Jewellery Silver Wedding Bracelet 1973 silver wedding bracelets 25th anniversary gifts for her hallmarked charm bracelets
A one of a kind vintage wedding themed fully hallmarked sterling silver charm bracelet. This beautiful solid silver bracelet was assayed at London in 1973. The padlock heart clasp has clear hallmarks showing the maker's mark L C into a rectangle, lion passant (sterling silver), leopard's head (London Assay Office), S (1973). This single curb bracelet is regularly hallmarked lion passant along its length. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The sterling silver charms are English and they appear to have been added to this item of vintage antique jewellery / jewelry in sequence .
For example:
The first charm is a spinner which says 'HAPPY DAYS' when it is spun.
The second is a two dimensional heart engraved with a Lovebird surrounded by foliage. The heart is engraved with a heart which surrounds the little bird. The back of the heart is marked 'SILVER'.
Then three dimensional cathedral charm followed by a three dimensional church bell complete with a clanger.
Often traditional British weddings will feature a piper playing the bagpipes - the next solid silver charm is a piper dressed in a kilt.
The music played at the reception is represented by an opening hinged charm. This drum has a trumpet attached to it. The charm opens to show the happy couple dancing. The back is marked 'SILVER'.
Boots were / are thrown at the car taking the happy couple away. This ritual is said to bring good luck. The silver boot charm is a well modeled three dimensional charm.
Then there are another two charms noted as being lucky in British culture - a horse shoe and wish bone.
The silver gilt horse shoe 'Good Luck' suspended in between it. The back of it has the maker's mark 'S L' & 'SIL' denoting silver.
A three dimensional wish bone.
Then an adorable little key representing the couple setting up home together. The key has 'YALE' engraved on it.
The final charm is Eros, the Greek god of love. Cupid is his counterpart in Roman mythology.

The charm bracelet measures 20.5 cm ( over 8 inches ) when closed and weighs 34 grams.

The horse shoe charm has a little bit missing from the second o. The rest of the letters are present and it is sound.

Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
