Vintage Hand-Painted Wooden Turkish Armchair
This lovely decorative armchair is hand-painted in bright colours. We would estimate it to date from the first half of the twentieth century. We believe the chair to have Turkish origins, although please note that we are not 100% sure of this. It is constructed from some type of light wood with turned spindles and turned top finials. This has been hand-painted, or possibly laquered with a hand-painted finish. The seat is a simple ply sheet with a piece of fabric over the top - we think that this is probably a replacement.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition but does have some wear consistent with age and use. There is some movement in the joints, but the piece is pretty solid. There is some heavy wear and loss in places to the paintwork - particularly to one arm, the top rail and one top finial. There is some grubbiness and some areas of splitting and minor loss to the woodwork. There is a larger split, which has an old repair to one of the arm supports - this requires repair. As is mentioned above we believe the ply seat to be a more modern replacement - the fabric seat covering is worn and a little grubby.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 98cm high, 65cm wide, 53cm deep (to maximums) 33cm high to seat. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
