This is a vintage cased sextant. An English, cast metal nautical handheld scientific instrument, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1960.
Appealing mid-century scientific instrument with fascinating detail
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order - untested, ideal for display
Enamelled cast metal shows light weathering from decades of careful use
Brass arc and eyepiece barrel presents warm golden tones
Radius sextant moves around its arc to aid navigation
Patented Rapid Reader window aids reading of the scale
Folding UV filters to protect against daytime sunlight
Tactile handle to the underside afford comfortable hand-holding
Mahogany fitted case replete with information panel to the lid interior
