Vintage 1940s 50s 15" Teddy Bear
This lovely vintage teddy bear has no maker's marks or labels, but has the characteristics of an English bear and was possibly made by Alpha Farnell. He has mohair fur, fabric, (replacement) glass eyes, black claw stitching and a black-stitched nose and mouth. He is soft stuffed with a hard stuffed head. He is wearing a purple ribbon around his neck that is not original. We believe him to date from the 1940s/50s.
Condition: Overall in fair-good condition, with some playwear consistent with age. He is overall dusty and faded, and his mohair fur is thinning with some large bald patches. There is some wear to his pads and some holing to one hand pad. Most of his claw stitching is missing. He shows some signs of restoration and repair - we believe his glass eyes to be replacements and his back seam looks to have been re-stitched. His snout has been repaired at one side. His joints are a little loose.
