Victorian Silver Plate Sovereign/Vesta/Stamp Case

Here we have an unusual late Victorian Silver Plate Combination Sovereign Holder, Vesta Case and Stamp Holder complete with a miniature Pencil. The case is oblong with rounded ends and has an engraved ivy leaf pattern to front and back with a blank circular cartouche on the upper side.
The case was made in Birmingham by William Neale and dates to between 1887 (when their patent for this item was granted) and around 1900. The firm was founded by William Neale in Birmingham in 1862 and registered marks in both Birmingham and Chester. They became William Neale & Son in 1890. The company produced a very wide range of silverware from trophies to tea services and cigarette boxes to pencils and were highly successful. They remained in business into the mid 1960s.
Condition is very good with just a little rubbing to the plate on the cartouche. The hinges, clasps and coin holder are all in full working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The case is 6.5cm / 2.5ins long, 3.5cm / 1.4ins wide and 1.5cm / 0.59ins deep. It weighs 46.8g / 1.65oz.
The case is marked with the patent number 4709 awarded to William Neale in 1887.
