Victorian Silver Masonic Fob, Wm. Adams, 1900
This is a decorative late Victorian Masonic Sterling Silver Fob. The fob is circular with a scroll decorated outer ring surrounding the traditional masonic symbol of the square and compasses framing a letter G. The fob has a ring at the top allowing it to be attached to a watch chain or worn as a pendant.
The fob is made in Birmingham by silversmith and jeweller William Adams Ltd and dates to 1900. William Adams founded his firm in 1900, so this is a very early piece by the company. They produced a wide range of silverware and a small amount of antique jewellery from premises in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. They remained in business into the early 1990s.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the most minimal superficial surface wear. This has clearly been well looked after for over 120 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The circular fob is 2.3cm in diameter and measures 2.8cm to the top of the chain ring. It weighs 4.3g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the back of the fob are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter a for 1900 and the W.A makers' mark for William Adams Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
