Here is a very good quality antique Victorian mahogany and leather office “tub” chair, circa 1890, in excellent condition.

Here is a very good quality antique Victorian mahogany and leather revolving office tub chair, circa 1890, in excellent condition. This style of chair was also known as a “tub chair” and has been newly upholstered in full grain avocado green leather with buttoning on the backrest. The chair features an elegant upholstered splayed back in a “wraparound” design that connects to the moulded frame. A bank of ring turned spindles connect the arms to the seat frame. The ends of the arms feature moulded fascia. The stuff-over seat is extremely comfortable it features a simple moulded frieze below. The leather is finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter of the seat frame. The seat is connected to the base by two sturdy cabriole legs at the front, which terminate on pad feet. A curved stretcher to the tapered legs at the rear connects the front legs. The chair stands on its original brass castors. The chair is extremely comfortable, is well constructed, has a fantastic colour and is in excellent condition.
This item features a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This office chair is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The arms, frame and seat are completely solid and show no signs of movement. Importantly, there are no breaks to the arms or legs. The chair has been newly upholstered with top quality full grain avocado green leather. The underside of the seat is finished with traditional hessian backing. The leather is in excellent condition and is free from any holes, damage or rips. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The chair also sits on its original brass castors. This chair is well constructed, solid in joint and is ready to use.
