A fine oil on canvas landscape scene of Wollaton Park, Nottingham. The painting shows the towers of Wollaton Hall in the distance with a view of the park occupied by shepherds and sheep and felled trees. The painting is in good original condition having had a professional clean with some craquelure. The quality of the work is evident with great detail and composition, it is signed to the lower left. The painting is by J Waplington who was from and exhibited in Nottingham in the 1880’s. The work is in a vintage frame though of some age it is not original. The frame is of good quality and has a very worn gilt finish. The whole has a great period look and is an interesting view of a historic landscape. It is ready to hang and dates to C.1880.
