A superb Victorian Figured walnut French ormolu mounted card table. The top has a serpentine front edge and when open creates a pleasant butterfly shape. The top has a pleasing quartered figured walnut veneer with each corner having large floral marquetry inlay. The inside is cross banded with kingwood and maintains it's original baize lining.
There is a fine ormolu moulded decoration running all around the top. The top rotates revealing storage section for cards counters etc. The base has a pleasing bombe serpentine shape with kingwood inlaid panels. The base sits on four generous cabriole legs with large ormolu mounts to the top running all down the front terminate with an ormolu shoe. Having all the front edge protected stops the veneer from chip damage. The insides of the legs are ebonised giving a nice complement to the figured walnut. This is a top quality piece of Victorian French antique furniture.
Although this is a games table it would serve just as well as a side or hall table with an added use.
