Victorian Coloured Etching Of Young Girl C1850
A very detailed early Victorian coloured etching of a young girl, depicted wearing black see through lace and head scarf, shown with hands clenched together in a rather religious looking pose.
FRAME
The frame is an original very ornate example, which compliments the sitters life like pose.
There are some losses on the frame, although these are fairly minor and do not spoil the overall appearance. All blemishes have been re-gilded.
CONDITION
There are faint signs of some ghosting or mild tiny mould patches in the background areas.
These can sometimes be carefully bleached out by painting a weak mixture of miltons bleach evenly on the back of the etching.
This portrait has been carefully highlighted by hand with watercolour paint in order to enhance
further the realism of the sitter.
The marks are all part of the normal ageing process and in my opinion do not effect the visual appearance to any real degree.
