A charming mid-Victorian period walnut chess top, or games, table. Very well made in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers. The shaped top is inset with a chess board in boxwood and ebony. The tripod base in in solid walnut and has a tuned column spreading to a tri-form base decorated with carved detailing. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops and now offered for sale in excellent overall condition, free from wobbles, and with a great colour and patina.
